When connection gets complicated

The same conversation. The same distance. A wish for something different.

Maybe disagreements go in circles, boundaries feel difficult, or you’re unsure how to rebuild trust. You may want to understand your own reactions before deciding what comes next.

Relationship therapy is a space to explore how you relate to others, communicate what you need, and work toward healthier patterns through individual or family support.

  • “We keep having the same argument.”
  • “It’s hard to say what I need.”
  • “I don’t know where to draw the line.”
  • “I want to feel more connected.”

The Wayfinder approach

How we work with relationship challenges.

Together, we look at what happens between a trigger and your response. We explore your needs, the patterns you can influence, and practical ways to communicate with more clarity.

Informed by Stoic philosophy. Care draws on practical communication skills, reflection, and CBT or DBT skills where appropriate.

  1. Understand the pattern.

Notice recurring conflict, assumptions, and reactions in important relationships.

  2. Build clearer communication.

Practise expressing needs, listening, and setting boundaries with intention.

  3. Choose your next steps.

Work toward connection and decisions that reflect your needs and values.

Before you reach out

Questions about relationship therapy.

It’s okay to have questions.
We can talk them through.

Can I come on my own?

Yes. Individual therapy can focus on relationship concerns even when the other person is not attending. We can explore your responses, needs, boundaries, and choices.

Is this couples therapy?

Much of our individual therapy focuses on how you show up in your relationships, from communicating your needs to working through conflict and building connection. We also offer couples therapy for partners who want to work on their relationship together.

What if addiction is affecting the relationship?

You can talk about how substance use or compulsive behaviours affect trust, communication, and boundaries. Addiction therapy support is available for family members even when their loved one is not ready for therapy.

Is relationship therapy virtual?

Wayfinder offers virtual individual and family appointments in Toronto and across Ontario. We’ll discuss who would attend, privacy, suitability, and fees before beginning.

Can I use my insurance benefits?

Coverage depends on your plan and your clinician’s professional designation. Check with your insurer about coverage for a Registered Social Worker or Registered Psychotherapist before booking.
